English Rural Speak – Volume One

The digital age is creeping into rural England at the pace of a glacial tsunami, threatening the age-old practice of opening and closing drawers in dusty filing cabinets only between the hours of 2pm and 4pm excluding Wednesdays.

For example, the man or woman who runs Hertfordshire County Council’s website must be feeling right snowed-under with blooming people wanting to know this that and the other.

“This is the main County Council Web Site and is mainly concerned with the current process of running Hertfordshire and has so much information and links to the point where it can be difficult to know where to look.” A passive-aggressive way of saying: “Jog on. Can’t you see I’m busy?” Bless.

Don’t go and pester them. I won’t give you the link.
